You know the feeling when you look at a picture and you just immediately squeal with delight? It just bursts out of you! Well, that’s precisely what happened when we saw this photo-set of Carrie in our Levi’s Utility Jumpsuit. There’s something so perfectly contrasted about that piece in the river & amongst perfect yellow blooms of the botanical gardens. And it’s no shock that this jumpsuit is comfy, as evidenced by Carrie doing full-on hand stands in between shots. Even with all of the acrobatics, this jumpsuit is tailored to hug your shape perfectly so that YOU are wearing the piece and it’s not wearing/tugging/bunching you. We see this jumpsuit as a unique canvas for you to add your own personal flare to, keeping in mind that the backup plan can always be splashing around in a river!

Tell Me A Storia

Hello, sweet friends! We are back and, whew, it feels so good! Spring is here in Asheville and we thought that there’s no better way to bring the Minx Blog back than with the Botanical Gardens as a backdrop & featuring two Spring dress looks! We are so thrilled to have Carrie & Grace modeling for us this season– let’s make some introductions. These two lovely locals embody a soft strength that perfectly encapsulates what Minx is all about. Carrie works out of a collective space with other artists and makers in Marshall & spends her time traveling all over searching for beautiful vintage finds to bring back to Asheville. Grace is a visual artist and weaver whose work can be found in coffee shops, art stores, and galleries all over Asheville & beyond. It was such a pleasure to work with them, and we are thrilled to share these looks with you all! We are also honored to have our dear Minxie, Megan shooting photos for the blog. She is not only a treasured Minxie in the shop but is also a talented photographer & we’re stoked to have her on the Minx Blog team.

Take a Bow

The floral shift dress is (or definitely should be!) a staple in every gals’ wardrobe. Its flirty and girly while still being adaptable to everyone’s personal style and flair. They can be dressed up with heels, or down with a denim jacket and sneakers. Its no secret the millions of wardrobe variations you can create with a floral dress and a little creativity. Feeling tired of your classic combos? Try different textures in the same color family. We love these velvet belt that can be tied in many different ways to suit the occasion. Adding some statement shoes, with some unexpected texture like faux fur or metal hardware, adds interest and changes up the entire vibe without my effort. Accessorizing is key for putting a new spin on your most beloved go-to pieces.

Hi Spring! The Minxies are thrilled you’ve arrived! The time has come for strolls in the park, outdoor picnics, riverside get-togethers, Easter celebrations, weddings galore- and so, so much more! And believe us, we are READY. Needing that staple piece to seamlessly guide you through all of your Springtime events? Two words: Susana Monaco. Now, if you’ve been with us for awhile this shouldn’t come as a surprise. We love the sturdy, yet extreme comfort of the fabric used in all her pieces. The fit is incomparable and these pieces are made to hold their shape through many, many wears. This lilac color is the epitome of Spring to us! Folk Fantasies for Spring in THML

Bohemian Fashion and Your Spring Wardrobe

Every Minx does it: has a secret fantasy of wearing some form of peasant clothing or folk costume. We may have elaborate daydreams conceiving of opportunities, or the right shoes, that will allow us to incorporate Thai fisherman pants, Guatemalan wrap skirts, lederhosen or dirndls, comfortably into our wardrobes. The Bohemian fashion trend this Spring will make it easier for our folk fantasies to come true.

Latest Fashion Trends: A Nod to The Peasant Blouse

Luckily, one of these iconic folk items of clothing has persistently and gracefully followed the ebb and flow of the fashion currents. The peasant blouse has consistently inserted itself into the consciousness of fashion designers decade after decade. Spring 2015 will see it front and center once again, firmly updated and instep with today’s fashion wants and needs.

THML Clothing and the Embroidered Top

The peasant blouse is flirty and sophisticated in her most recent reincarnated form sprung from the minds behind THML. THML’s spring line is chalk full of flirty and sophisticated pieces that are right on point with the seasons biggest trend!

Key Pieces within the Fashion Canon

The all white blouse has been a fashion staple since time immemorial, and one can only imagine that its status as icon will never falter. But, sometimes a Minx needs a beautiful and feminine top with more graphic appeal than classic white.

We love this printed blouse. It really turns up the dial on edgy more than a few notches. Plus the 3/4 length sleeves and neon embroidery elevates it from a beautiful blouse to a brilliant-flattering-classy-all-around-versatile-day-to-night wardrobe save all!

One of the many reasons that we are drawn to folk clothing is that it is often enhanced with gorgeous hand work: beading, smocking or embroidery. In contrast, most modern clothing does not usually have these details. That’s why we are so happy that embroidery is a vital element of the 2015 Spring fashion trends.

THML Embroidered Blouse

We have kept with the concept of flowy top and form-fitting bottoms with this look. Last time, we paired the Navy Ark and Co. Butterfly Tunic with skinny jeans. This time we have tucked the THML blouse into a high-waisted jean by Cielos, creating a simple elegance that one could wear almost anywhere.

Shoes and Jewelry and Spring

Chelsea Crew Sandals spring

Low red heels and simple gold jewelry finish the look off. A look that is just at home at a gallery opening or a party as it will be in many work situations. It is both modern and classically feminine: this is a Spring look we can see on all you Minxes, from all your different walks of life, as you relax into this glorious Spring!

Flowers on Fifth, or Joti’s top 5 looks for NYFW, spring 2010.

Lacoste – Who knew? Who even knew Lacoste could make more than ugly polo shirts. And boy did they ever. I want to wear this next spring while I stroll down some flower strewn path to the lake listening for the sounds of Gastby calling me in for an afternoon cocktail. I would however hope that my fantasy included actually attractive shoes… those are pretty much the worst. Don’t even get me started on the – cutting the toes off of perfectly good shoes phenomenon – that seems to going along full steam…

Oscar de la Renta – Oh Oscar. Well done my “friend.” That mossy pea green skirt paired with those 3 shades of orange. Yum. Braids, over sized bag, cat eyes… I mean he might have looked through a dream and into my wardrobe! This is Joti wear if I ever I saw it.

Rebecca Taylor – Ok love the clean hair… am a sucker for florals and a sweet jacket… belt it and I love it more… and I know the pants will scare some of you but really… they are divine! Also, I want to see what those shoes look like from the side… cuz I think I might love them too.

Nanette Lapore – I don’t have the figure for this look but I find it inspired. Her whole collection was a wash in beautiful colorful spring clothing. I just adore the tight, cropped, floral trousers (what a beautiful Monet-esque print!) mixed with a clashing sporty stripe and then all covered up in a this little voluminous brown coat. The proportions are are just right and ever so wearable.

Peter Som – He is killing me. Amazing fall collection last NYFW and an amazing spring show this FW! So pleased. AND this dress? Well, it’s perfect. It would make a really cool wedding dress! How sweet to get hitched in a little pink number? I want it. (P.S. I’m not getting married or anything… just obsessed with Peter Som)
