Take My Hand

We are so excited to have a double feature this week on the blog! You hear words thrown around like “dressing up” and “formal” and “events” – and while we all may use these words interchangeably, they have very different meanings for each individual. There is no cookie-cutter way to dress. While it is respectful to dress according to all specific instructions presented by those putting on a certain event, when its left open-ended we hope you will feel inspired to truly be YOU even when dressing more formal than usual. These looks below, while certainly not black-tie formal, are still elevated looks with two very different aesthetics. This red plaid coat from Vilagallo is a great combination of masculine silhouettes and fabrics, with true feminine details (the lining of this coat has the sweetest illustrations!) Worn with a button-down and straight leg denim from Levis, we are definitely playing up menswear with this look. On the other hand, lace and velvet is quintessential feminine formality and we have shown that with a new, modern flare. This high-neck lace detail blouse is perfect for layering or standing out on its own. These wintertime fabrics make a statement all their own without any effort. Above all else, we hope you will stay true to yourself for all of your formal holiday events this year!

Tea Time

There’s something magical about cool mornings, birds chirping and breezy afternoons that make Springtime so dreamy. If we were to write a fairytale, it would most definitely take place in a far-away land that is always in a state of Spring. We were able to harness that magical dreaminess in this Traffic People lace maxi dress. The sky blue slip is included so while this dress may look fragile and delicately placed, it’s a piece you can toss on and be transported to your favorite fairytale. Something about pastels and gold thread that sends you right into the pages of a storybook. We decided to compliment the airiness of the dress by keeping accessories and shoes in the same pastel color-family. For those chilly, Spring evenings, a soft knit cardigan or cropped denim jacket would fit in effortlessly with this look.

Make A Day of It

We hear it all the time – “I’m not a hat girl.” Or “I can ONLY wear skinny jeans.” Or “I just don’t want to draw attention to myself.” We understand having a reliable uniform and we understand the comforting feeling of wardrobe staples and go-to’s. In fact, they are an incredibly important part of building personal style. At the same time, its also easy to box ourselves into a comfort zone and start giving ourselves fashion rules that let us get away with self-deprecating thoughts and mantras. At Minx, we love gently encouraging our customers, and OURSELVES, to try something they never have (or have before and weren’t feeling at the time!) and start challenging these self-imposed fashion rules with empowerment being the ultimate goal. So –  toss on a hat, try out a bold print, or come grab that white button-down you’ve been eyeing that will always fit just right. Either way – we are here and we are in your corner!

A dreamy dark denim pencil skirt.

This dark denim pencil skirt looks fab on everyone we’ve seen it on so far.  At $125, it is an investment piece, but Red Engine denim is known to last for years.  The cut of their jeans compliment the body in the best of ways, and we think great fitting, super-comfortable, long-wearing pieces are worth every penny.

Everyday Abstract

Our latest shipment from Peppermint brought us lots of cool, inexpensive dresses like this one!  We’ve paired it with suede booties, a boxy, breezy cardigan from Cheap Monday and Ashley Buchanan’s hand-cut enameled necklace for a fun, running-around-town look.  Easily make it a going-out outfit by loosing the cardigan and adding a pair of come-hither heels.
